Experiments in making fused glass stripes

Often when I finish a project, I’m left with bins of glass remnants. At one point, the bins were starting to pile up, so I thought I would try a little experiment. I began overlaying scrap upon scrap and fusing them together. Layering up the remnants allowed for a kind of serendipity that precise cutting did not. This way of working became a new approach that I’ve utilized in several projects since that day, including the Governor Philip W. Noel Judicial Complex in Warwick, RI, where I created four glass screens (one on each floor); and Children’s Specialized Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ, where I created a two-sided art glass feature wall for the meditation room.

Inspiration can come from anywhere if one remains open to it.
