Painted Glass

Painted glass tiles consist of glass paints fired, typically, onto handblown sheet glass, but may also be applied to non-glare and other commercial glasses. The painted glass may be laminated to mirror and mounted to drywall so as to reflect the ambient light in the space. It can also be laminated to clear tempered glass and installed in a frame or point supported system.

Above painted glass projects are: CalSTRS Headquarters, Spaulding Rehab Hospital, and 650 Massachusetts Ave.

“While there are certain techniques that I’ve honed over many years and use repeatedly, I always start new projects with as few assumptions as possible about what approach I will take. Instead, I let the site, client, and project parameters drive the technique. Sometimes, my signature techniques are a perfect fit; but other times, the needs of the project present a chance to explore new directions and new processes.”
