Logan International Airport

This light and glass art installation runs along a 600-foot-long wall behind the counter at Terminal E at Logan Airport. It consists of twenty-four vertical apertures rhythmically spaced within the wood/glass wall. Echoing the lanterns of light placed throughout the terminal, these vertical elements are symbolic of the twenty-four international time zones and the twenty-four hours in a day. Each vertical element is made of cyan dichroic glass laminated to thin ribbed glass. Behind each glass panel are precisely focused lights.  The shimmering vertical elements activate the entire terminal, carrying the viewer’s eye along its length and enhancing the perspective of the wall. The lighting of this art installation undulates in programmed sequences inspired by the rhythms of air travel.
